New alderman joins Yorkville council

Updated: November 30, 2012 11:10AM

YORKVILLE — Ken Koch has taken his place on the City Council as the new alderman from the 1st Ward.

The 13-year resident has been a member of the Yorkville Park Board, most recently serving as president.

Koch was appointed by Mayor Gary Golinski to replace George Gilson.

Aldermen backed Koch’s appointment unanimously, although alderman, Carlo Colosimo, admitted he “had reservations” at first.

“After meeting with him, I have a feeling we won’t see eye to eye on everything, but I will vote for him,” Colosimo said. “After April, it will be up to the voters to decide.”

The 1st Ward seat is up for election in April 2013.
