Wright house hosting musical performance

Updated: October 9, 2012 2:29PM

KANKAKEE — On Sept. 16, Gaines Hall Jr., an American based in Berlin, will present a one-time-only Broadway-themed song and dance concert.

Gaines, who has titled the show “Broadway For The Bradley,” has for 20 years been a popular and critical success.

The production is made up mostly of tunes from leading roles he has performed in such musicals as “Cabaret” and “Beauty and the Beast,” as well as tap and dance to “Crazy For You,” “Singin’ In the Rain” and more.

Audience members may choose to enhance the mood after the performance by joining Gaines at a reception. Those selecting this VIP package will enjoy reserved-section seating at the show followed by an intimate, catered encounter with this performer.

A bonus for reception attendees is that they’ll meet Gaines in an architectural wonder: the B. Harley Bradley House, Frank Lloyd Wright’s first Prairie Style design.

The Bradley was purchased in 2005 by Gaines’s architect father, and near perfectly restored to its original design.

The show goes on at 4 p.m. at Lincoln Cultural Center, 240 S. Warren Ave., Kankakee.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 5-12. VIP tickets, for the performance and reception, cost $50; VIP reception-only tickets cost $35 (reception begins at 6:30 p.m.). All VIP tickets must be purchased by Saturday.

All tickets are available online at www.wrightinkankakee.org. For information, call 815-954-4776.
