New Lenox man charged with DUI in fatal accident

WILL COUNTY — A New Lenox man who was reportedly behind the wheel of a fatal traffic accident last month has been charged with DUI.
Kevin E. Krohn, 22, of 1168 N. Cooper Road, was booked into the county jail Thursday on a charge of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and is being held on $75,000 bond.
Around 3:45 a.m. Aug. 25, Krohn was driving a 2002 Dodge on Steger Road at 104th Avenue in Frankfort Township when he lost control and struck a tree, sheriff’s police said.
The car burst into flames on impact, killing Krohn’s passenger, Jake M. Stevens, 22, of Manhattan.
Krohn suffered compound fractures to both legs and was hospitalized.
Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene and had to be identified through dental records.
