Medicare meeting set in New Lenox

NEW LENOX — The Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD for Seniors invites ages 50 and older to a meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the New Lenox Village Hall, One Veterans Parkway.

The meeting will offer a presentation on Medicare fraud by Cheryl Lockwood of the Northeastern Illinois Agency on Aging.

Flu shots from Walgreens will be offered free to Medicare Part B patients who bring their card. The shots will be available for a discounted rate of $25.

Master gardener training

JOLIET — Participants in the master gardener program take a series of 10 classes on a variety of gardening topics. The course is taught by University of Illinois Extension educators and specialists.

Once training is complete, participants volunteer time back to the community.

Classes begin in January 2013. There are two training options: local in class or online.

Class sessions will be on 10 consecutive Fridays, beginning Jan. 25, at the Will County Extension Office, 100 Manhattan Road.

Fee is $250. Scholarships and payment plans are available.
