PLAINFIELD — The victim of a fatal crash Monday morning on Route 126 near Plainfield has been identified as Robert James Jr., 63, of Yorkville, state police said.
James was heading east on Route 126 about 6 a.m. near County Line Road when his 2007 Mercury swerved into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an eastbound truck, state Police Sgt. Scott Angus said.
The truck driver lost control of the vehicle after the impact and hit another westbound vehicle, police said.
James was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead.
The truck driver declined medical treatment and the driver of the second car was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet with arm, back and leg pain, police said.
Police still are investigating the accident.
They had no information on why James’ vehicle swerved into the westbound lanes.
