JOLIET — A downstate man was killed in a crash Thursday just west of Chicagoland Speedway.
Charles M. Tabaka, 68, of Ivesdale, Ill., was pronounced dead at 9:01 p.m. Thursday, according to the Will County coroner’s office.
Tabaka was the driver of a pickup involved in a collision with a semi-tractor-trailer at South Chicago Street and West Schweitzer Road in Joliet.
An autopsy was performed on Friday, and preliminary results revealed multiple injuries due to a crash, the coroner’s office said.
The final cause and manner of death will be determined later pending police, autopsy and other reports.
Joliet police are investigating the incident. The Roux Hinds Funeral Home in Bement, Ill., will be in charge of funeral arrangements.
