Part of Schweitzer Road to close Monday

Updated: October 22, 2012 6:21AM

JOLIET — Schweitzer Road between CenterPoint Way (Patterson Road) and Vetter Road will be closed beginning Monday until approximately Nov. 23.

CenterPoint Intermodal Center — North is proceeding with the reconstruction of this section of roadway as part of its development.

The roadway improvement is part of the state grant money received by the city of Joliet, and the road will be reconstructed at no cost to the local taxpayers.

The roadway will remain open to local traffic only to allow residents to access their properties.

Only the northern two lanes will be completed this year.

In spring 2013 the southern lane of the roadway will be completed. This road will be a three-lane curb and gutter roadway when completed in 2013.

The detour route is:

Westbound Schweitzer Road: Centerpoint Way south and southwest to Vetter and then Vetter Road north back to Schweitzer.

Eastbound Schweitzer Road: Vetter Road south to Centerpoint Way and then Centerpoint Way northeast and north back to Schweitzer Road.
