JOLIET — A Joliet man was arrested on a California warrant alleging that he sexually assaulted a relative in the 1990s when she was 10 years old, police said Thursday.
Dennis Mann, 56, of 7011 Hadrian in Joliet, was arrested Monday by Joliet police, said Police Chief Michael Trafton. Mann is being held in the Will County Jail, awaiting extradition, authorities said.
Mann is being charged in San Bernardino County, Calif., with lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and sexual penetration, Trafton said.
On Feb. 22, a victim told Joliet police that she was sexually assaulted in California in 1990, authorities said. Joliet police completed reports and sent them to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The state’s attorney there has determined that the charge will be filed in connection with the 1990 incident, Trafton said Thursday. A warrant from that county was issued on Monday, and Mann was arrested that day by Joliet police.
Trafton commended his detectives for their work on the case and their coordination with authorities in California.
