Crafters making greeting cards for troops

Updated: October 28, 2012 6:56AM

PLAINFIELD — To give troops a way to keep in touch with their loved ones back home, Stampin’ Up! demonstrators Shannon Seneczko and Debbie Spano and Mike of TheSpoonJeweler.com will host a card-making party for Operation Write Home.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion in Plainfield and Crestwood Civic Center.

Operation Write Home is a non-profit national and international network of volunteers who create and supply greeting cards for U.S. troops overseas.

The three have set a goal of 1,200 greeting cards to be created that day. A goal of 100 “AnyHero” cards has also been made. “AnyHero” cards have encouraging messages written inside for the troops.

All helpers are welcome over the age of 16.

Donations are also needed to cover the cost of supplies and shipping.

Contact Seneczko at 815-609-3718, or email msseneczko@att.net.
