MINOOKA — Low bidder RNR Contractors of Morris was awarded the 2012 Motor Fuel Tax sidewalk replacement work at a cost of $35,652 for the base bid and $11,676 for an alternate bid.
Work will begin within the next 10 days on as many as 50 to 60 sidewalks in the village that need replacement, Superintendent of Public Works Rob Tonarelli said.
In a related matter, trustees approved a sidewalk ordinance that gives the village power to install sidewalks not done so by property owners and to put a lien on the property for the cost.
The alternate bid approved for RNR Contractors is for seven properties on Northfield Drive in Rivers Edge Landing that do not have sidewalks.
Property owner V-3 Realty of Woodridge will have 30 days from a postmarked date of a letter from the village to have the work completed or the village will have the work done for it.
