50 years ago, 1962

John Leach, 28, Cherry Hill, was one of four people rescued when their 18-foot outboard boat overturned in high waves on Lake Michigan. Two of those rescued are former Jolietans now practicing law in Chicago. Chicago police said others who were saved included Albert “Skip” Grinton, Henry Frank and Margaret Sincere.

25 years ago, 1987
Brother David Delahanty, 52, president of Lewis University in Romeoville, died at De La Salle Hall in New Jersey. He had suffered from cancer since last spring. Delahanty served as president of Lewis since 1982.
