50 years ago, 1962

The school lunch program in the three junior highs in the Joliet Grade School District has proven popular as shown by the serving of 213,000 meals the last school year. Assistance furnished on the state and national level helped provide well- balanced lunches. They are served for 35 cents to students and 45 cents to adults.

25 years ago, 1987

The manager of the Joliet Park District Airport will resign at the end of October, becoming the fourth manager to leave the district in the last month. However, district officials say the departures aren’t part of a trend, and personnel have left for a variety of reasons, including better career opportunities. Airport manager Chris Lawson submitted his resignation to district Director Al Cassady.
