Suspect in Lockport bank robbery arrested

Lockport police FBI said an Indianman was arrested Saturday during Glen Ellyn bank robbery later confessed robbing Standard Bank Oct.

Lockport police and the FBI said an Indiana man was arrested Saturday during a Glen Ellyn bank robbery and later confessed to robbing the Standard Bank on Oct. 2 in Lockport. At the time, police released this surveillance photo of the suspect.

LOCKPORT — A suspect in the recent Standard Bank robbery in Lockport was arrested Saturday during another attempted bank robbery, Lockport police said.

Police said the Indiana man was captured during the attempted robbery of a Bank of America branch in Glen Ellyn.

The man is in the custody of the FBI and reportedly confessed to the Lockport robbery as well.

Details on his identity were awaiting the filing of formal charges by the FBI.

At 9:30 a.m. Oct. 2, Lockport police received a report of a bank robbery at Standard Bank, 16545 159th St.

A “well-dressed” robber approached a teller and showed her he was carrying a small black handgun and a black bag.

He told the teller to put all her money in the bag and showed her a note. No one was injured in the robbery.

Surveillance footage showed the suspect is a white man between 60 and 70 years old and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a fedora, silver-rimmed sunglasses, a black suit and tie.
