JOLIET — Samy’s Lounge, 3151 Voyager Lane, has been fined $1,000 and faces other penalties, the city liquor commission announced Wednesday.
The commission also revoked the establishment’s Entertainment and Extra Hour Permits after multiple recent disciplinary hearings.
Revocation of the bar’s Entertainment Permit means Samy’s Lounge can no longer have live music of any type including bands or DJs.
Losing the Extra Hour Permit restricts the licensee to regular hours of operation with closings no later than midnight Sunday, no later than 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday and no later than 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
The fine must be paid within two weeks.
The judgment came after multiple disciplinary hearings on separate charges and an emergency seven-day closing earlier this month in connection with repeated violations of the liquor code.
Officials reported violations included permitting people to enter the premises in excess of the maximum occupancy load, locking or padlocking an exit door, failing to post the occupant load sign near the main exit as well as failing to report an act of battery and disorderly conduct.
