KANKAKEE COUNTY — A New Lenox girl was killed in a car crash Saturday morning.
According to reports, Ken Little had taken Karly, 9, and her sister, Katie, to visit his mother at a nearby nursing home and was returning on 6000 North Road approaching Route 50.
The intersection, between Bourbonnais and Manteno townships, has a stop sign for 6000 North just a few yards past a railroad crossing.
The Little’s vehicle reportedly went into the intersection and was
“T-boned” on the driver’s side by another car.
Karly Little was taken to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 10:52 a.m., coroner Robert Gessner said. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Gessner said.
Ken and Katie Little were taken to Riverside Medical Center where Ken Little remained in serious condition Sunday. Katie Little was listed in stable condition. The man driving the other vehicle was treated and released at Riverside.
Karly Little was a Girl Scout who attended fourth-grade at Nelson Ridge Elementary School, reports said.
Illinois State Police and the Kankakee County Sheriff’s department did not return calls Sunday afternoon regarding the crash.
