Police Blotter: Handguns, cash taken in ruse burglary in Joliet

JOLIET — Four handguns and a large amount of cash were taken during a ruse burglary Tuesday afternoon

Police said a man approached a resident of the 1500 block of West Acres Drive claiming to be a new neighbor and was allowed inside the victim’s house. After the man had walked through the house making home improvement suggestions and left, the victim discovered the theft.

BOLINGBROOK — A 37-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for having a two-year sexual relationship with a girl, authorities said.

Lt. Mike Rompa said police were informed in August that Francisco Chan had been involved with the girl when she was between 11 and 13 years old.

Around 6:30 a.m. police forced their way into 523 Monroe Road and seized “numerous items of evidence” with a search warrant. Chan was booked into the county jail on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

BOLINGBROOK — A man and a woman told police they were beaten and robbed by six people Tuesday evening.

At 5:36 p.m. the 23-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were in the 100 block of Somerset Lane when the group approached. The woman was punched in the face several times and thrown to the ground, and about $300 was taken from the man, Lt. Mike Rompa said.

Responding officers saw Vincent D. Fenner, 18; Rodney T. Mayes, 17, and a 16-year-old juvenile who matched the robbers description running near Illinois 53, Rompa said.

After the three suspects were identified by the victims, they were arrested on charges of robbery.

Fenner, of 237 Hadleigh Road, and Mayes, of 312 Woodcreek Drive, were booked into the county jail and the 16-year-old was taken to the River Valley Juvenile Detention facility.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday a 46-year-old man came into Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his arm. The man told police he had been attacked by three men while driving in Joliet, but was otherwise “uncooperative” police said.

A resident of the 500 block of Sherman Street told police a passenger in a black Cadillac fired shots at her house around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries or damage was reported.

Christopher J. Crosby: 21, of 404 Herkimer St., Joliet, was arrested by Joliet police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of domestic battery.
