MONEE TOWNSHIP — Police said they found a teenager hiding nearly $5,000 worth of drugs in an intimate area of her body Tuesday.
Will County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said a deputy was on patrol around 10:30 p.m. when he saw a Ford Focus fail to signal while turning at Hamilton Avenue and Manhattan-Monee Road.
The deputy found driver Edward Franklin, 32, had a suspended license and passenger Bria A. Henry, 17, gave the name of a 21-year-old relative, Hoffmeyer said.
Henry was taken to the sheriff’s substation in Crete and reportedly consented to a strip search, during which police found 4.5 grams of marijuana in her bra and 47 grams of heroin in her groin area, Hoffmeyer said.
Police records show Henry is a reported runaway from Chicago. She and Franklin, of 9459 S. Harvard Ave., Chicago, were booked into the county jail on charges of drug trafficking and delivery of marijuana. Henry was also charged with obstructing justice and Franklin was charged with driving on a suspended license.
