Police Blotter: Man clocked at 113 mph

PLAINFIELD — Police say a driver was clocked at nearly 70 mph over the speed limit on Wallin Drive last week.

At 10:44 a.m. officer Adam Kalar was checking speeds between 143rd and Lockport streets when he used his radar detector on a southbound BMW 3 Series and “came across something quite out of the routine.”

According to reports, the BMW was traveling at 113 mph in the 45 miles per hour zone.

Police were able to catch up with Ihusseen Odeh, 21, of Plainfield, who was charged with aggravated speeding, reckless driving and fleeing from police.

If found guilty of the misdemeanors, Odeh would not be eligible for court supervision, and could face a year in jail and $2,500 fine, along with having his driving privileges suspended, police said.

Man charged with sexual abuse

ROMEOVILLE — A 39-year-old man has been arrested for having sex with a 12-year-old relative, police said.

Assistant Chief Larry Vinson said police were called Sunday after the victim’s father learned Angel Jimenez had sexual encounters with the girl “a few times.”

Jimenez then admitted to police he had sexual relations with the girl, Vinson said. Jimenez, of 319 Hemlock Ave., was booked into the county jail on a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Federal agent helps stop drug deal

BRAIDWOOD — Police say a Wilmington woman selling prescription drugs picked the wrong place to make a deal last week.

Around 4:45 p.m. Christina A. Skeldon, 34, was reportedly offering hydrocodone pills at the BP Gas Station, 105 N. Front St.

“A federal agent was passing through town and needed to stop for gas when he saw (Skeldon) make a deal and called to let us know,” Chief Rich Girot said.

Skeldon, of 405 Wood St., was arrested on a charge of drug trafficking while Rebecca L. Alexander, 24, of 440 Sullivan Lane in Braidwood, was arrested on a charge of drug possession. Both were booked into the county jail.

Fire news in brief

Firefighters extinguished a fire around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on the rear porch of a residence in the 800 block of Vine Street in Joliet. According to reports, police had responded to a domestic dispute at the same address a short time earlier.

Around 11:30 p.m. Monday, a fire started on a mattress in the basement of a tri-level residence in the 1300 block of Brentwood Place in Joliet. No injuries were reported.

In other police news:

Javar D. Sorrell: 23, of 817 Greenbriar Lane, University Park, and Randy L. Sawyer, 25, of 908 White Oak Lane, University Park, were arrested by University Park police and booked into the county jail Saturday on a charges of aggravated battery. Sorrell was also charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Lawrence M. Sellers: 57, of 25749 Daffodil Lane, Monee, was arrested by Monee police and booked into the county jail Saturday on charges of aggravated battery, assault and driving under the influence of alcohol.
