Scout Day set for area museum

Updated: November 27, 2012 10:51AM

ROMEOVILLE — Native American Scout Day, a free program for Scouts ages 8 to 12, will be at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville.

Scouts are invited to join a program focusing on Native American heritage and the lore of the Potawatomi Indians. Discover how this tribe lived in the wilderness, visit a longhouse and learn about the daily life of the Potawatomi. Learn to play Native American games, listen to stories that incorporate Native American language and learn about primitive fire-starting techniques.

Part of this program will be outside, so dress for the weather. Hiking on paved and non-paved trails over some uneven terrain is required.

Scouts are invited to attend this program with their families or as part of their Scout group.

Registration is required, and Scouts must be accompanied by a parent or Scout troop.

For information and registration, call 815-886-1467.

Isle a la Cache Museum is at 501 E. 135th St., a half-mile east of Route 53 in Romeoville.
