50 years ago, 1962

Bolstered by the ground attack of Charlie Winters and Bill Wehrspann, and the passing of Jim Henderson and Jim Randolph, Joliet Township’s Steelmen completed their second straight undefeated season and took their 19th straight victory 32-0 over Argo.

25 years ago, 1987

Joliet Junior College Board members bypassed Trustee Rosalyne Gillespie when they chose a new board officer. Gillespie said fellow board members are prejudiced against her because she is an educated black woman they cannot control. But board Chairman Robert Wunderlich said Gillespie was not chosen because she is facing a felony bribery charge in Will County Circuit Court.
