State to hold car seat checks

JOLIET — The Illinois Department of Human Services will be conducting a car seat check from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the East Joliet Fire Department, 911 S. Briggs St., Joliet. School to send care packages
BOLINGBROOK — Valley View School District’s B.J. Ward Elementary School, 200 Recreation Drive, will participate in Operation Care Package.
School officials are collecting items for packages that will be mailed on Monday.
Sought are puzzle books, travel games, wet wipes, canned favorites, cards and dry food items.

Church to hold blood drive
MINOOKA — The Knights of Columbus of St. Mary’s Church will sponsor a blood drive from 7:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 1 for Heartland Blood Centers at Minooka Junior High School on the corner of McEvilly and Ridge roads.
Appointments are preferred. Walk-ins are welcome.
Heartland will give all donors a shirt.
