NAPERVILLE — With tender hugs and tears of grief, friends and family of 7-year-old Justin Plackowska gathered Monday to say goodbye to the young boy who was stabbed to death last week, allegedly by his own mother.
Justin’s wake Monday at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Naperville drew hundreds of visitors, including school teachers and classmates of the karate fanatic and soccer player.
Media vans and camera crews lined the parking lot of St. Elizabeth Seton, but signs on the church doors asked that the press not enter. Visitors whisked quickly by the cameras, holding their little ones tight as they passed through the doors.
Justin’s funeral is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 2220 Lisson Road.
Justin’s mother, Elzbieta Plackowska, is in custody, charged with the murders of her son and 5-year-old Olivia Dworakowski, whom Plackowska was baby sitting on Oct. 30 when the stabbings occurred.
DuPage County prosecutors say Elzbieta Plackowska lashed out against the children because she was angry that her husband, a truck driver, was spending too much time working and didn’t appreciate her efforts as a wife and mother.
Olivia’s funeral arrangements are being handled by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles, but the services are private and times are not being released.
