JOLIET — Police say a 33-year-old mother was killed Tuesday when her car pulled out in front of a sport utility vehicle.
At 7:38 p.m. Jessica L. Jeffries was westbound on Division Street when she came to the stop sign at Center Street. Jeffries’ 8-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son were passengers in the Oldsmobile, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.
“A man driving northbound on Center Street said the Oldsmobile pulled out and his Dodge Nitro struck the Oldsmobile on the driver’s door,” Roechner said.
Jeffries was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m. Her children were taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and treated for minor injuries.
The other driver was not injured and was not cited, according to reports.
