Until Dec. 15, Will County residents are encouraged to participate in a web-based survey about the Illinois Department of Transportation’s I-55 Managed Lane project.
A link to the survey is available on the Will County website, www.willcountyillinois.com.
The purpose of the survey is to identify how many weekly trips Will County residents travel on Interstate 55 between I-355 and I-90/I-94. The survey will also identify peak travel times and congestion issues along this route. The scope of this project is the addition of one lane in each direction within the existing median of I-55 to accommodate an express toll lane, a high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane, or other lane configurations for projected increased travel demands.
Will County Executive Larry Walsh stresses the importance of as many residents as possible contributing to this survey. “This is a good opportunity for Will County residents to have their voices heard on issues that affect their daily transportation habits,” Walsh said. “All of us use this highway at one time or another and we know the congestions problems that are associated with this area. The survey takes only a few minutes and can have a large impact on the future of transportation solutions for our county.”
