Police Blotter: No injuries in fire caused by ceiling fan

LOCKPORT — No one was injured when a ceiling fan caused a small fire at a house Thursday afternoon.

Lockport Township Fire Chief Dave Skoryi said the fire was reported at 1:23 p.m. while residents were home in the 1200 block of Prodehl Drive. Skoryi said a bathroom ceiling fan ignited and fell into a bedroom, causing some damage.

Firefighters were at the scene for about a half-hour, Skoryi said.

Two shot outside grocery store

JOLIET — Two men were shot by a masked attacker outside a grocery store Tuesday night.

At 7:12 p.m. the victims left the food mart, 1001 Woodruff Road, when they heard shots and began running, Cmdr. Brian Benton said.

A 20-year-old man was shot in his foot while a 21-year-old man was struck in his wrist. Neither injury was considered life-threatening.

Benton said surveillance video from the store shows a masked man shooting at the victims, but no other suspect description was available.

Police news in brief:

Twenty propane tanks were reported stolen Sunday afternoon from the parking lot of a business in the 800 block of Crossroads Parkway in Romeoville. The tanks were valued at $1,000.

Alexander M. Perez: 21, of 207 Fairmont Ave., Lockport, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of driving without a license.

Keith W. Wdowikowski: 23, of 22525 S. Center Road, Frankfort, was arrested by Frankfort police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of theft.

Brandon L. Shaw: 25, of 1405 Brown Ave., Joliet, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of delivery of marijuana.

Michael A. Thompson: 26, of 1035 N. Mayfield Ave., Chicago, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of shoplifting.

Martin J. Charley: 53, of 620 Oneida St., Joliet, was arrested by Joliet police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of theft.

Thomas F. Hutto: 40, of 415 Wheeler Ave., Joliet, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Monday on charges of driving on a suspended license and obstructing justice.

Latoya M. Collins: 22, of 682 Blackhawk Lane, Bolingbrook, and Tavion D. Watkins, 21, of 1002 Edgerton Drive, Joliet, were arrested by Romeoville police and booked into the county jail Monday on charges of shoplifting.

Zachary A. Pecho: 21, of 538 Hauert St., Peotone, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Monday on charges of drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.

Brandon P. Hughes: 29, of 2724 Whitchurch Court, Naperville, was arrested by Naperville police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on charges of aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery.

Samuel J. Jones: 47, of Crown Point, Ind., was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on a charge of motor vehicle theft.

Christian Maldonado: 21, of 224 Aspen Drive, Bolingbrook, was arrested by Bolingbrook police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on charges of drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Ernest Brown: 39, of Topeka, Kan., was arrested by Braidwood police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on a charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Darrin K. Riley: 41, of 1251 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on a charge of driving on a suspended license.

Karen Haislip: 49, of 186 Steamboat Lane, Bolingbrook, was arrested by Bolingbrook police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on charges of burglary and drug possession.

Richard A. Elsner: 25, of 100 N. Clement St., Joliet, was arrested by Joliet police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on a charge of shoplifting.
