JOLIET — REO Speedwagon will be back at Taste of Joliet in 2013, the Joliet Park District announced Thursday.
The band, whose performance at this year’s Taste was cut short by inclement weather, is coming back by popular demand, park district Executive Director Dominic Egizio said.
“It was obvious that our market really wanted to see them because it was the biggest night we ever had,” Egizio said. “The No. 1 comment I heard was, ‘Can you have them back?’”
The 20,000-some people who showed up for REO Speedwagon was the most ever for a Taste of Joliet band, Egizio said. The next-highest attendance was 12,000.
REO will play June 28, the opening night for Taste of Joliet. Tickets went on sale Thursday.
The Joliet Park District, which runs Taste of Joliet, has not yet lined up bands for the second and third nights of the three-day event. Taste of Joliet will be June 28 to 30 at Memorial Stadium.
