Troy schools to add second Science Club

Updated: December 28, 2012 6:12AM

The Science Club is so popular at Troy Middle School that an additional club was added to help meet the needs of the students who did not have a chance to take part in the first semester.

The Second Semester Science Club recently approved by the Troy School Board, will be open to 30 students in grades 7 and 8.

The first-semester Science Club had to limit the number of students due to safety concerns during experiments.

Meagan Lewandowski, manager of student services, reported one of the goals of Science Club is to aid in recycling and help the school move toward being energy efficient.

Students will meet after school from 2:30 to 4 p.m. once or twice a week for a total of 15 meeting dates.

In other business, Diane Cooper, business manager, reported Troy School District ranked the lowest in administrative costs per average daily attendance for Will County elementary school districts.
