Election filing times set

On Sunday, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a bill that extends the last day to file for the April 9 Consolidated Election to Dec. 26. The first day of filing, Dec. 17, has not changed.
Councilman at-large candidacy petitions must be filed with the city clerk’s office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The office will be open until 5 p.m. Dec. 26. Call 815-724-3780 or visit cityclerk@
Petitions will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays at the office of Town Clerk Beth Ann May, 175 W. Jefferson St. The office will remain open until 5 p.m. Dec. 26. Call 815-726-5239.
Troy Township Clerk Jim McFarland announced petitions will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 17 to 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 23 and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 26. Call 815-744-1968.
New Lenox Fire Protection District
Petitions can be filed until 5 p.m. Dec. 26. As a result of the filing date change, the last date for filing objections will be Jan. 3. District headquarters is at Station 1, 261 E. Maple St., New Lenox.
