New Lenox mulls changes to fence height rules

The village of New Lenox is considering revising the codes concerning fence heights.
The board heard the first read of an amendment affecting corner lots and pools. The code requires a maximum of 3 feet on corner lots. The board is considering raising that to 4 feet.
“I’m very much in favor of it,” Trustee Nancy Dye said.
She said that it is easy for big dogs to scale 3-foot fences. This puts neighborhood walkers at risk.
Around swimming pools, the board is considering reducing the height requirement from 6 feet to 5 feet.
