Teddy bears for Newtown children

All Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell real estate offices are collecting teddy bears to send to children in Newtown, Conn, following the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School last week. The collection is part of “Operation Fuzzy Wuzzy II.”

New, unwrapped teddy bears can be dropped off at any Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell office through Dec. 23.

Minooka school board to fill vacancy

MINOOKA — The Minooka Community High School District 111 Board has declared a vacancy and will appoint a member from the district’s unincorporated area for approximately a four-month term of office. Interested citizens who are registered voters and reside in the unincorporated area of the district should provide a letter of interest with sufficient supporting information so that the board can evaluate their candidacy. Letters are due to the Minooka Community High School District 111 Superintendent’s Office at 26655 West Eames St. in Channahon by Dec. 21. The board of education plans to seat the new board member at the Jan. 17 regular board meeting scheduled to be held at the Central Campus Career Center at 6:30 p.m.
