Police Blotter: Chimney fire damages Joliet home

JOLIET — A chimney fire damaged a house Wednesday morning.

Three adults and one child were home when the blaze started at 7:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Walnut Street but were able to escape without injury, Battalion Chief Ron Schroeder said.

According to reports, the fireplace had been used the day before for the first time in three years. Fire damaged the roof and the house was unihabitable Wednesday. The Red Cross was called to find the family a place to stay, reports said.

Police news in brief:

Two handguns were reported stolen Tuesday night when a residence was burglarized in the 2000 block of Tamarack Drive in Joliet.

In police news:

Brett R. Steinke: 28, of 115 Inwood Drive, Joliet, was arrested by Joliet police Sunday on charges of criminal trespassing and obstructing justice.

Jason E. Bogdan: 24, of 218 Barbara Lane, Steger, was arrested by sheriff’s police Monday on charges of criminal trespassing and vandalism.

Cody C. Donlan: 19, of 105 Nanti St., Park Forest, was arrested by sheriff’s police Monday on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm and defacing the identifying markings of a firearm.

Joshua L. Foster: 25, of 1010 Shagbark Road, New Lenox, was arrested by sheriff’s police Monday on a charge of operating an uninsured vehicle.

Precious L. Haynes: 17, and Shaniqua B. Bohanan, 17, both of 6432 S. Langley Ave., Chicago, and Keyshyla I. Thomas, 18, of 215 71st St., Chicago , were arrested by Tinley Park police Tuesday on charges of shoplifting.

Mohammad Z. Abdelhadi: 31, of 27102 W. Hemlock Road, Channahon, was arrested by sheriff’s police Wednesday on a charge of delivery of narcotics.

Vasiliy F. Maslyanchuk: 32, of Inman, S.C., was arrested by sheriff’s police Wednesday on a charge of theft.
