Christmas tree recycling event Saturday

JOLIET — From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, residents may participate in a free Christmas tree recycling event. Trees may be dropped off at the Waterway Park, along Bluff Street, south of Jefferson Street and Bicentennial Park.

Boy Scout Troop and Crew 18 will assist in this event. Trees will be chipped and mulch will be used on city greenways.

If you would like mulch for your own use, bring a container to be filled. Only family trees will be accepted.

Candidates file for school board seats

Ten candidates, including three incumbents, filed to run for the four Valley View School Board seats that will be contested April 9.

They are Bolingbrook residents Liz Campbell, Ronnie Bull and Chrystal Hansen, all of whom are incumbents; Bolingbrook residents Deborah Sykora, Sinatra Strong, Daniel Falese, Ron Doweidt, Tonia Young Barr and Jamie Olson; and Romeoville resident Robert Vandiver.

All seats are for four years.
