JOLIET — Six candidates have filed paperwork to be on the Joliet City Council ballot on April 9.
David Piekosz, of 1846 Corregidor St., filed for candidacy Wednesday — the last day to submit petitions — and joined five other candidates who had filed previously.
Those five all filed at 9 a.m. on the first day to submit petitions and will take part in a lottery Thursday to determine their places on the ballot.
The candidates in the lottery are Don Fisher, John P. Gnutek, Jim McFarland, Jan Quillman and Michael Turk. Fisher, Quillman and Turk are incumbents in the election.
All three at-large council positions are up for election in April. At-large council members are elected city-wide. The council also has members elected from five districts of the city.
Mayor Thomas Giarrante also is a voting member of the nine-person governing board.
