Program opens new center in Joliet

JOLIET — Catholic Charities’ Early Childhood Services Division is opening a new Head Start site in Joliet. Broadway Center is located at the former site of St. Patrick’s School, 110 Willow Ave., Joliet. The new space includes six classrooms for preschool children ages 3 to 5, and additional space for a parent meeting room. Ther also is gym and playground area. Half-day or full-day classes with child care are available.

Head Start is accepting enrollment applications. Priority is given to low-income families, children with disabilities and foster children.

Plainfield offers
police, fire academy

Plainfield police and fire officials are hosting a nine-week academy for citizens from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday nights starting Feb. 14. The classes are free of charge to participants.

Classes are limited to 30 people. They are taught by officials from the Plainfield police, fire and ambulance departments.
