The Will County Board’s land use committee voted for a third time on Monday to delay action on permit requests for a Lenny’s Gas N Wash on Harlem Avenue adjacent to Tinley Park.
Frankfort Township homeowners who live near the site at 194th Street had called the project a monstrosity at a previous committee meeting in November. But opponents and gas station developer Lenny McEnery continue to meet to work out their differences, county land use officials said.
McEnery needs permits for a car wash, drive-up food window and liquor sales before he can move forward with his project. His purchase of the five-acre parcel from Suburban Bank and Trust is contingent on him getting approval from the county board, which has control over the site because it is in an unincorporated area.
