MINOOKA — A 43-year-old man died Monday night after his bicycle was hit by a car.
Police Chief Justin Meyer said both Steven Laskiewicz and the sedan that struck him were northbound around 7:40 p.m. when the accident occurred at Ridge Road and Industrial Drive.
“That area does have streetlights that were functioning,” Meyer said.
Laskiewicz was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet where he was pronounced dead at 8:16 p.m. An autopsy was performed Tuesday.
The driver was not injured and has not been cited. Though the crash is still being investigated, alcohol was not a factor, Meyer said.
