Crash kills South Wilmington man

A crash Wednesday night claimed the life of a South Wilmington man.
Anthony J. Serena, 28, was killed, Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan announced.
The crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. on Goodfarm Road in Goodfarm Township.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Callahan said.
Callahan said preliminary investigation indicates Serena was eastbound on Goodfarm Road approaching the overpass for Interstate 55 when his pickup left the roadway and traveled down an embankment.
The unit then traveled 700 feet coming to a rest on I-55. Serena was the only occupant and was ejected from the vehicle.
The crash is being reconstructed by the state police, and the Gardner/Dwight Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Callahan and Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.
