Will County awarded preservation grant

SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Pat Quinn today announced that 13 Illinois communities and one county have been awarded grants through the U.S. Department of the Interior for historic preservation efforts.

Will County will receive a $19,250 grant to conduct a rural historic resources survey for a significant portion of Peotone Township in advance of a road-building project that may potentially affect 65 identified historic sites.

Grundy county sheriff’s promotions

MORRIS — Grundy County Sheriff Kevin Callahan announced promotions and appointments.

They were: 21-year veteran Craig Meece as chief deputy; 27-year veteran Todd Horrie as lieutenant of the Investigations Division; and 23-year veteran Mark Sajnaj as lieutenant of the Patrol Division.
