Cabin Fever event for kids to be Feb. 16 in New Lenox

Updated: March 4, 2013 6:22AM

This season’s unusual weather may not be keeping kids indoors like Januarys past. However, the New Lenox police will still host the annual Cabin Fever event.

Originally designed to give cooped-up kids something to do, the day is filled with crafts, games, pizza and more for kids of all ages, said officer Aurena Davis.

There will be a reptile show at 11 a.m. provided by Traveling World Reptiles. There will also be representatives from various Girl Scout and Boy Scout organizations.

“We are very fortunate the businesses support us on this,” Davis said.

The event is also sponsored by the New Lenox Community Park District and Suburban Bank and Trust.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 16 at Martino Junior High School, 731 E. Joliet Highway, New Lenox. Although the event is free, kids are asked to bring a canned food item for the New Lenox Food Pantry.
