Weatherization assistance available

JOLIET — The Will County Center for Community Concerns is taking application for the 2013 Weatherization Program, which helps income-eligible county residents save fuel and energy while increasing the comfort of their homes.

Applications are taken on a first-come/first-served basis from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the center, 304 N. Scott St.

Material and labor are free to homeowners. Landlords are responsible for 50 percent of all mechanical work. To qualify you must be at or below 200 percent of the poverty level.

Music recital Saturday
at Plainfield South

JOLIET — The community is invited to hear the best of Plainfield School District’s high school choral and instrumental musicians at the 2013 Solo and Ensemble Contest Honors Recital at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Plainfield South High School, 7800 W. Caton Farm Road. Admission is free.

More than 300 musicians will participate.
