Crest Hill honored the Lockport Township High School boys bowling team for winning the state championship.
It was the first state championship for the team.
Lockport’s Shane Matejcak won the individual state championship after averaging 243.7 in the finals.
“I am really proud of these guys,” Matejcak said. “We worked so hard for this season. I am not about the individual title. I was here for the team.”
“I was at the basketball game Friday night and I had the honor to watch you be recognized at halftime of the varsity basketball game,” Mayor Ray Soliman said. “I saw how proud each and every one of you was and the elation you had on your faces. This is an honor you will carry with you the rest of your life so be proud of what you have done.”
In other action, Richland Grade School will host a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 in the main gym, 1919 Caton Farm Road.
Parents and community members are invited to share in the discussion regarding the tragedy in Newtown, Conn. Submit questions in writing prior to the event to Jill Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“This is to try to explain the plans that are currently in place and how other agencies are involved with the schools and how they help out with the safety of the children,” Police Chief Dwayne Wilkerson said.
Presenters will include representatives from Richland, Chaney-Monge School District, Crest Hill Police Department, Will County Health Department and the news media.
