Diana Schmitt has resigned her position as Shorewood village clerk. Schmitt, who has served as village clerk for eight years, resigned over a controversy over board control of the minutes. Schmitt said a motion approved by the board Feb. 9 clearly states that the board intends to control what is put in the minutes book. “I feel strongly that this is in direct conflict with the statutory duties and responsibilities of the office of village clerk,” she said.
