Registration to start for Valley View Summer Learning

Registration begins Friday for Valley View School District’s all-day Summer Learning Experience.

Sessions will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 10 to July 3 and July 8 to Aug. 2. Cost is $110 a week for district residents and $125 for others. Payment plans are available.

The program will focus on reading comprehension, writing skills and math.

Programs will be offered at five sites: Pioneer Elementary School, Hermansen Elementary School, R.C. Hill Elementary School, B.J. Ward Elementary School and Jamie McGee Elementary School.

Registration forms are available through the website at http://summerfun.vvsd.org, by visiting any VVSD elementary school or by stopping in at the VVSD Administration Center, 755 Dalhart Drive, Romeoville.

Plainfield schools seek award nominees

PLAINFIELD — The Plainfield School Board is seeking nominees for its annual Awards of Excellence to be presented at 7 p.m. April 3 at Plainfield North High School, 12005 S. 248th St.

The award honors teachers and non-administrative staff who in one way or another have touched the lives of their students and peers.

Nominations now can be made online at www.psd202.org by clicking on 2013 Award of Excellence Nomination Forms under “Announcements.”

Paper nominations should be mailed to: Board of Education Staff Recognition Committee, care of Tom Hernandez, Plainfield School District 202, 15732 Howard St., Plainfield, IL 60544.

All nominations must be received by 5 p.m. March 8.
