Parents can meet Humphrey teachers

Parents, meet the teachers

BOLINGROOK — Parents will have an opportunity to mingle with teachers and administrators in a relaxed setting from 7 to 9 p.m. March 15 in the scafeteria at Humphrey Middle School, 777 Falcon Ridge Way.

The free evening, for adults only, will include dinner and bingo.

Reservations are preferred by calling 630-972-9240 by Friday.

Lecture discusses greener lawns

PLAINFIELD — The March Green Village program will offer tips on developing a greener lawn at 7 p.m. March 11 at the Plainfield Public Library.

Nancy Kuhajda, a Master Gardener with the University of Illinois Extension, will speak.

Independent living workshop

JOLIET — The Will-Grundy Center for Independent Living will host a workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. March 13 at its office, 2415 W. Jefferson St.

Topics will be transportation, housing and accessibility.

Wendy Garlich, mobility manager for Will County, will give an update on the county’s effort to expand public transportation.

Police academy in Channahon

CHANNAHON — The Channahon Police Department will host its Citizens Police Academy.

Participants will get hands-on experience in a variety of law enforcement topics taught by members of the department.

Classes will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, March 14 to May 30.

Program information and applications are available at the department, 24555 S. Navajo Drive. All participants must be 18 years old or older.

Boy Scouts hold fundraiser

NEW LENOX — Boy Scout Troop 49 wil hold its annual pancake breakfast and bake sale fundraiser from 7:30 a.m. to noon March 17 at the New Lenox Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9545, 323 Old Hickory Road.

All you care to eat pancakes, sausage, eggs and beverages served by the Scouts.

Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for kids under 12 and seniors, and free for kids 6 and under. For information, call Bob Willson 815-462-1705.
