JOLIET — Two men were arrested Tuesday after a police officer reportedly spotted them in a SUV stolen a few hours earlier.
Around 3:30 p.m. a resident of the 600 block of North Hickory Street came out to find the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe she’d left running and unlocked in her driveway was gone, Chief Mike Trafton said.
Around 9:30 p.m. Officer Bill Otis was on patrol in the 400 block of Chicago Street when he found Terrell L. Franklin, 32, and Anthony J. Anderson, 32, sitting in the Tahoe in a parking lot, according to reports.
Officers detained Anderson before Franklin “was located hiding under another car in the lot,” Trafton said.
Franklin, of 221 Mississippi Ave., allegedly admitted taking the Tahoe and was booked into the county jail on charges of motor vehicle theft and driving on a suspended license.
Anderson, of 326 S. Reed St., was not charged in the theft, but was jailed for failing to appear in court on traffic violations.
