Romeoville wins water quality award

Updated: April 8, 2013 6:10AM

ROMEOVILLE — The South Suburban Water Works Association recently named the village of Romeoville as the winner of “The Best Tasting Water in the South Suburbs.”

A drinking water sample, produced by competing utilities from the south suburbs, was submitted and evaluated by a panel of judges based on water clarity, odor and taste.

Over the past seven years, the village has completed five ion exchange plants in order to improve the village’s water quality by reducing existing levels of radium in the drinking water below requirements mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency.
