Joliet candidates forum to be March 20

JOLIET — The St. Pat’s Neighborhood Association will hold a candidates forum for Joliet City Council candidates at 6 p.m. March 20 at the Patrick Haley Mansion, 17 S. Center St.

All four candidates have accepted invitations to appear.

Candidates on the ballot for the April 9 election are incumbent council members Don Fisher, Jan Quillman and Michael Turk and challenger Jim McFarland. Three positions are open for the at-large council seats, which are elected citywide.

The forum will be moderated by Stewart Warren.

Corned beef and cabbage dinner

MINOOKA — A corned beef and cabbage dinner will be served from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Church. Proceeds will go toward scholarships for graduating seniors from St. Mary’s who plan to attend college.

Irish music will be performed from 3 to 5 p.m. by Pat and Karen Cannady. There also will be a quilters’ raffle.

Admission costs $10 for adults, $5 for children and $30 for a family.

Tax discusssion to be held at pizza place

JOLIET — Will County Fair Tax will lead a forum on the “income tax vs. the fair tax” from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Cemeno’s Pizza, 1630 Essington Road.
