Plainfield Lions to hold ‘Meat Madness’ fundraiser

PLAINFIELD — The Lions Club of Plainfield will hold its “Meat Madness” fundraiser at 1 p.m. March 24 at Gruben’s Uptown Tap, 512 W. Lockport St.
See the “Wheel of Meat” and take a chance at winning steaks and hams. Tickets cost 50 cents and there will be raffles throughout the day.
Proceeds will be donated to families and the elderly in the area. In 2012, the Plainfield Lions donated more than $14,000 to needy families for the holidays.
U.S. Rep. Foster calls for students’ artwork
WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Bill Foster invites high school students from the 11th Congressional District to participate in the 2013 Congressional Art Competition.
The winner will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C., for the unveiling of their work.

Plainfield schools to talk about standards
PLAINFIELD — The second of four presentations about the Common Core State Standards for learning that will be implemented next year in the Plainfield School District will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Grove Middle School, 12425 S. Van Dyke Road.
Sessions will also be at 6:30 p.m. March 19 at John F. Kennedy Middle School and 6:30 p.m. April 16 at Indian Trail Middle School.
