The annual Dad’s Day fundraising collection for diabetes research has been approved for another year, but Minooka Village President Pat Brennan had to break a tie.
The Will-Grundy County Building & Construction Trades and the Kankakee/Iroquois County Building Trades requested use of village right-of-way at a village board meeting for the intersection of Ridge Road and Mondamin Street for their annual fundraiser.
Trustees were split when it came time to vote.
Safety is the issue, say trustees who voted against the fundraiser. Allowing people to stand in the street collecting money is a bad idea, Trustee Terry Houchens said.
The Dad’s Day fundraiser is scheduled for June 15.
In other business, the board:
Approved the purchase of a set of soccer goals for $4,132.
Approved a $1,000 contribution to partner with the American Legion Post 1188 for the Memorial Day Parade.
