50 years ago, 1963

Harwood Post 5, American Legion, took another step toward a new home when it voted to build on the site of the present home at 705 S. Larkin Ave. A building commission was elected headed by Probate Judge Stewart Hutchinson. The new home may have a swimming pool.

25 years ago, 1988

A recent rash of petty crime that has hit their area has a group of Wilmington-area farmers banding together. About 30 farmers from Wesley Township, including members of a new group tentatively called the Farmers Protective Organization, packed Wesley Township Hall to tell Will County Sheriff John Johnsen and others they want more action taken.
